Residence Status for work in Japan
1. If you find employment in Japan
- After graduation, you cannot start working with your "Student" visa.
- If you are graduating/completinig a regular undergraduate or graduate course and find employment, you will need to change your residence status, such as "Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services" or "Highly Skilled Professional" visa.
- Please prepare the necessary documents and apply to the Immigration Bureau yourself.

- The review process takes approximately 1 to 2 months.
For "Highly Skilled Professional" visa

- To apply, you must have the required number of points.
"Highly Skilled Professional" Points-based system - Please complete the applicatoin process promptly after you find employment.
- Graduates of our university will receive a bonus of 10 points (Bonus point ⑪).

2. If you plan to continue job hunting in Japan after graduation
- For details and required documents: ISA job hunting activties
- After graduation, you cannot continue job hunting under the "Student" visa.
- If you wish to continue to look for a job in Japan after graduating from a regular undergraduate or graduate course, you must change your residence status to "Designated Activities (for continuing job hunting)."
- This status allows you to stay in Japan for six months.
- If renewal is approved after six months, you will be able to stay for a up to one year total.

- Proof of financial support during your stay
(e.g., bank statements or scholarship certificates) - Graduation certificate from our university

(e.g., records of job applications, interview invitations, selection-result notifications) - Revenue stamps for the application fee (available at the campus kiosk)
Recommendation Letter from Our University
Please follow the procedure below.

・Create a "Job Hunting Plan." ・Fill out the "Application for Recommendation Letter for Job Hnting in Japan" form. |
(i) Obtain approval from your supervisor, career advisor, and department head. (ii) After obtaining approval, submit the documents to the International Student Section. |

Evaluation by the university If approved, a recommendation letter will be issued. |

- This process is applicable only to degree-seeking regular students.
- Studnets who completed their studies without obtaining a degree are not eligible.
- An extension for an additional six months is possible; however, you must submit the same documents and follow the same procedures again.
Make sure to keep thorough records of your job hunting activities, as these will be necessary for the extension.
